Experience
- Dr Tan Sing Huang is an oncologist who practices at Singapore’s Gleneagles and Mount Elizabeth hospitals.
She was a senior consultant in the Department of Haematology-Oncology at the National University Cancer Institute in Singapore prior to entering private practice (NCIS). As program director, she oversaw the Senior Residency Education division and served as co-chair of the professional competency committee for Senior Residency training.
Dr Tan Sing Huang received the NUH Teaching Excellence Award in 2014 for her contributions to education at the National University Hospital (NUH). She was also an assistant professor at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, where she served as an examiner for undergraduate final medical exams. - Dr Tan Sing Huang is the Singapore Society of Oncology’s new vice president. She has also served on the National Healthcare Group’s Domain-Specific Ethics Review Board as an active committee member since 2011, and is a workgroup member for the College of Radiologists’ 2017 National Breast Cancer Screening Guidelines Review.
She has also chaired conferences such as the 2015 ASCO Best of ASCO and was a co-organizer of the inaugural Breast Day Symposium in 2016.
Since 2008, Dr Tan has received a range of independent grants to research methylation patterns in breast cancer, high-throughput oncogenic mutation profiling in breast cancers, chemotherapeutic regimens and clinical outcomes, and the impact of chemotherapy on cognition in cancer patients using PET scan imaging.
Dr Tan Sing Huang has been invited to contribute chapters to the renowned international textbook Diseases of the Breast on chemotherapy treatment of metastatic breast cancer.
Additionally, she has authored numerous publications that have been published in international journals on topics such as ovarian suppression in breast cancer, high-throughput mutation profiling changes before and after chemotherapy, tumor gene expression profiling, and pharmacogenetics in breast cancers.
