- Dr Choon Hwai Johnson is currently a Senior Consultant at the National Healthcare Group’s Tan Tock Seng Hospital Eye Institute.
In 2002, he earned a medical degree from the National University of Singapore. After completing his specialty specialization in Ophthalmology, he was awarded fellowships by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Ophthalmology) and the Singapore Academy of Medicine. He was awarded a Ministry of Health Training Scholarship and completed additional subspecialist training in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the University of British Columbia in Canada and the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, which is consistently ranked as the nation’s top eye hospital. - Dr Choon Hwai Johnson is an avid researcher and presently serves as an Adjunct Clinician Investigator at the Singapore Eye Research Institute. He has published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and presented his research at both worldwide and regional conferences. He was a 2014 ASCRS Film Festival Award winner at the 32nd Annual ASCRS Film Festival Awards. He was also instrumental in establishing our tele-ophthalmology service in 2009.
- Dr Choon Hwai Johnson is passionate about education and training. He is the module leader for Ophthalmology at Nanyang Technological University’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He is responsible for the department’s undergraduate teaching curriculum.
