Biodata
- Dr Chang Haw Chong graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore in 1994. In 1998, he was elected to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow as a Fellow. He earned a Master of Medicine in General Surgery from the National University of Singapore the following year.
- Dr Chang Haw Chong was the first orthopaedic trainee from Singapore to achieve the FRCS Edin (Orth) in 2001, when it became a prerequisite for orthopaedic training graduates in Singapore. He was then awarded a Ministry of Health HMDP Scholarship in 2003 to train as a Clinical Fellow in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the University of Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
- Professor David NM Caborn, a renowned sports orthopaedic surgeon in the United States of America, mentored him. Professor Caborn has a special interest in the use of allograft tissues in sports reconstructive surgery and meniscus transplantation. He previously worked at Changi General Hospital as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and as Deputy-Head of the Changi Sports Medicine Center (CSMC). He was essential in the development of the Orthopaedic Sports Service at CSMC, eventually becoming its Director in 2007.
- Among his numerous accomplishments, he founded the CSMC Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Program in 2004, which has treated over 250 patients annually with anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Among his patients were members of the National football team and the S-League.
