- Dr Lim Kay Kiat is an orthopaedic surgeon with a foot and ankle surgery expertise. He is particularly interested in running and cycling-related injuries.
- Dr Lim graduated from the National University of Singapore with a medical degree in 1996. He continued his education in surgery postgraduately and was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2001. He earned a Masters of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery from the National University of Singapore the following year and was elected to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2005. Dr Lim was a Foot and Ankle fellow at the University of Toronto and completed speciality training at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada, between 2006 and 2007.
- Dr Lim Kay Kiat has worked at Changi General Hospital as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and as the Director of the Foot and Ankle Service. He was key in pioneering the use of maggot debridement therapy in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers at Changi General Hospital. Dr Lim’s numerous patients include S-League and National soccer players, junior and development team athletes, as well as dancers with lower extremity injuries.
- Dr Lim Kay Kiat is particularly interested in foot and ankle abnormalities and gait, and has been awarded multiple research funds and published in prestigious orthopaedic scientific journals. Additionally, Dr Lim has served as the principal investigator for multi-center international medical trials.
- Dr Lim Kay Kiat is on the faculty of the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, where he teaches undergraduate medical students. He is also actively involved in the education of specialist orthopaedic surgeons, serving as a mentor and supervisor for trainees. Over the last few years, he has served as faculty for the National University of Singapore’s Postgraduate Course in Orthopaedic Surgery. This is a course designed for trainee orthopaedic surgeons from both the local and international community. Apart from orthopaedic surgery, Dr Lim has served as an instructor for the Advanced Trauma Life Support course and as an advisor/mentor for biomechanics students at the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Engineering.
- Dr Lim Kay Kiat is an avid endurance athlete outside of work. He has completed many Ironman 70.3 triathlons and is a marathoner. He has a personal interest in running and cycling injuries as a result of this background. Apart from rehabilitative, medicinal, and surgical treatment of cycling injuries, he concentrates on bike fit measures for preventing and treating riding overuse injuries.
- Since the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix in 2008, Dr Lim Kay Kiat has been a member of the medical team covering the event. In 2009, he served as the track medical service’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer, where he was responsible for trackside safety and medical intervention in racing incidents.
