Biodata

  • Dr Tan Chee Seng is an Oncocare Cancer Centre Senior Medical Oncologist. He formerly worked as a Consultant in the Haematology-Oncology Department at the National University Cancer Institute of Singapore (NCIS), National University Hospital (NUH), and as a Visiting Consultant at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH). He earned his undergraduate medical degree from the National University of Singapore’s School of Medicine and his postgraduate qualification from the United Kingdom’s Royal College of Physicians.
  • Dr Tan Chee Seng earned his advanced specialist certification in Medical Oncology from National University Hospital. He was later awarded the renowned Academic Medicine Development Award (AMDA) fellowship to pursue a subspecialty in personalized lung cancer medicines at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University, United Kingdom. His primary clinical interests are in lung and thoracic tumors, as well as head and neck cancers. He served as the lead investigator or co-investigator on multiple international multicenter cancer clinical studies with innovative chemotherapeutic medicines, targeted treatments, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, antibody-drug conjugates, and immunotherapy agents. Dr Tan has also published in peer-reviewed international journals such as Lancet Oncology, Clinical Cancer Research, Molecular Cancer, Lung Cancer, Oncotarget, Target Oncology, Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology, Journal of Translational Medicine, and Journal of Oncology Practice, among others. He had been invited to speak at or head oncology gatherings on a local and regional level. He also regularly spoke to the public and to local primary care physicians to inform them about the most cutting-edge cancer treatments. Dr Tan was also the beneficiary of various grants, including the National Medical Research Council’s (NMRC) Clinician Investigator Salary Support Program and IMU Bridging Funds.
  • He is a member of various professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), where he served on the executive committee.
  • He was an active participant in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSOM) and the National University Hospital (NUH), respectively. He formerly served as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at YLLSOM and as the Director of Undergraduate Education (Medical Oncology). Additionally, he was a core faculty member of NUH’s Medical Oncology Senior Residency. He was invited to serve as an examiner for the final year MBBS examinations at YLLSOM.
  • Dr Tan is trilingual in English, Mandarin, Malay/Bahasa, and Malay/Bahasa. He is fluent in Cantonese and Hokkien. He has treated patients from a wide variety of regional and international locations, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and India.
