- Dr Felicia Tan Li Sher is a Breast Surgeon at FeM Surgery. She graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. She completed her postgraduate studies in general surgery at the National Cancer Centre Singapore and Singapore General Hospital before deciding to specialize on breast surgery. Prior to establishing her own practice at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, she worked as an associate consultant at Kerdang Kerbau Womens’ and Childrens’ Hospital and as a consultant surgeon at Raffles Hospital. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and was accredited as a specialist in General Surgery in Singapore.
- Additionally, Dr Felicia Tan Li Sher is skilled in a variety of breast surgery techniques, including vacuum aided biopsies of breast lesions. She invented the radioisotope occult lesion localization (ROLL) treatment in Singapore, which is utilized to locate non-palpable breast lesions and microcalcifications for surgical excision. She is still capable of performing the entire spectrum of general surgical procedures.
- Her therapeutic interests include the treatment of breast cancer and the utilization of a variety of surgical procedures to ensure her patients receive the best oncologic and aesthetic outcome possible. This comprises cancer-specific breast conservation surgery (lumpectomy) as well as nipple- and skin-sparing mastectomies with rapid breast reconstruction.
- Her current research interests are in breast oncology, particularly in young women’s breast cancer. Her research expertise is in translational medicine, where she uses molecular and genomic profiling of tumor subtypes to develop biomarkers that can aid in cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. In 2007, she was awarded the renowned Singapore Millennium Foundation Scholarship to pursue her interests in research.
