Biodata
- Dr Ng Tay Meng earned a bachelor’s degree in 1983 from the National University of Singapore and completed postgraduate specialist studies in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology in Singapore. He earned a Master of Medicine degree and was inducted into the Singapore Academy of Medicine and the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh.
- Dr Ng Tay Meng completed a one-year subspecialty training program in Interventional Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at the London National Medical Laser Centre in the United Kingdom in 1995, where he received intensive and comprehensive training in all aspects of therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy, with an emphasis on endoscopic laser therapy for gastrointestinal malignancies and endoscopic ultrasound staging for gastrointestinal malignancies. He was previously a Senior Consultant and Head of the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Service at Changi General Hospital in Singapore, as well as Vice-President of the Singapore Gastroenterological Society.
- Dr Ng’s areas of expertise and interests, as well as the services he may provide to his patients, are as follows:
- • Evaluation of gastrointestinal symptoms, including upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes
- • Endoscopic screening of the gastrointestinal tract for common gastrointestinal cancers
- • Endoscopy with Video-Capsule in the evaluation of the small intestines
- • Endoscopic ultrasonography for the staging and assessment of gastrointestinal malignancies and hepatobiliary-pancreatic disorders
- • Endoscopic Laser Therapy / ablation / palliation of GI malignancies
- • Dilatation and stenting of gastrointestinal strictures or malignancies by endoscopy
- • Acute gastrointestinal hemorrhage management, including variceal bleeding
- • Evaluation of abnormal liver function tests or elevated tumor markers in the gastrointestinal tract
- • Treatment of acute and chronic hepatitis, including infection with Hepatitis B and C
- • Cirrhosis and its complications: management
