DR SHASHANK SHAH is India’s first and foremost laparoscopic bariatric surgeon. He has served as President of a number of national obesity organizations, including the Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society of India (OSSI), the International Excellence Federation (IEF), and the All India Association For Advancing Research In Obesity (AIARO) (AIAARO)

DR SHASHANK SHAH is the only Indian who has been asked to lecture at universities in Europe, the United States, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. He is the first surgeon in the world to receive the renowned American Diabetes Association’s Vivian Fonseca Scholar Award for research in Surgery as Treatment for Type 2 Diabetes. The Association of Surgeons of India presented him with the most prestigious award and the Dr. Jaipal Singh Oration for the year 2017. (ASI)

DR SHASHANK SHAH is the first Indian bariatric surgeon to have numerous papers in international journals that are indexed. Dr. Shah’s skills and knowledge have been recognized by the BBC and National Geographic, who have featured him in a number of programs that have been broadcast around the world. He is a well-known general and laparoscopic surgeon with more than 30,000 procedures under his belt in the last 34 years. He has also published a number of research papers in indexed international journals. Dr. Shah is a member of the Editorial Boards of Obesity Surgery, Bariatric Times, and Journal of Obesity and Metabolic Research.
