DR SUMEET PAWAR received his MBBS from G S Medical College and KEM Hospital in 2008, followed by a board-certified Neurosurgery program from Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre in Mumbai, and a Diplomate of National Board in Neurosurgery from the National Board of Examiners in Neurosurgery from the National Board of Examiners in Neurosurgery in New Delhi.

Since his schooling, he has been profoundly engaged in the art of spine surgery and has been able to help and perform over 1800 surgeries in this field. He is skilled in executing sophisticated spine surgeries such as anterior cervical surgery, lumbar decompression, dynamic stabilization, PLIF, TLIF, and kyphoplasty, among others.

DR SUMEET PAWAR followed his interest in limited access surgery at Southern Tohuku University in Japan and later Lohas Spine Hospital in Taiwan after completing his spine training. There, he learned the intricacies of performing spine surgery through a small incision, without general anesthesia, and with same-day recovery, all while achieving similar results and improving patient comfort.

He is a Destandau Endospine, tubular, transforaminal endoscopic (PELD), and Percutaneous Stenoscopic System expert in endoscopic and minimal access spine surgery (PSLD). He also does ACDF, TLIF, PLIF, Percut pedicle screws, percutaneous kyphoplasty, and other MISS procedures for spine instrumentation and fixation. He also does open surgery for malignancies, infections, and the treatment of scoliosis.

DR SUMEET PAWAR has amassed the world’s largest and India’s first endoscopic detethering operation series. He has mastered PELD under local anaesthetic and has lately begun doing fusion surgery under local anesthesia. This allows patients to leave the hospital the same day they have surgery. With over 2300 cases under his belt, he is one of the few neurosurgeons in Mumbai pursuing totally endoscopic systems, and he presently performs PELD and PSLD (awake spine surgeries) solely at Lilavati Hospital using German Maxmore and Joimax devices.

He has several research articles in national and international medical journals and has published many chapters in neurosurgical books due to his significant interest in scientific research and advances in the surgical sector. He is currently the Editor in Chief of Journal of Spinal Surgery, one of India’s most well regarded spine journals.
