At Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore, Dr Peter Ang is an oncologist.
Dr Ang Cher Siang Peter was a senior consultant medical oncologist and director of the Cancer Education Service at the National Cancer Centre, Singapore, in 2004, before entering private practice. Dr Ang was also a KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital visiting consultant to support the development of the cancer genetics program that sees patients with breast, ovarian and other gynaecological cancers.
In 2002, for the National Cancer Center and SingHealth cluster, he was the leading cancer expert in the breast cancer workgroup. He was involved in introducing the cluster’s breast cancer health management plan in 2013, integrating with his team of doctors the latest breast cancer knowledge.
In 2004, with the SingHealth Cancer Service Growth Line, he was the program leader for Public Cancer Education. He was awarded the National Excellent Service Award (EXSA) in 2005 for clinical work. He is active in delivering extensive information on oncology and exceptional treatment to patients with a broad variety of cancers, including lung cancer, cancer of the stomach, colorectal cancer, lymphoma, cancer of the kidney, breast cancer, cancer of the ovary, cancer of the uterus, and cancer of the cervix.
Dr Ang Cher Siang Peter has been involved in the area of breast, lung and colorectal cancers as well as cancer genetics in clinical and translational research. In both local and international journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Chest, Lancet Oncology, Seminars in Oncology and Respiratory Medicine, his research work has been written. He was also the editor and principal author of a book titled “Illustrative Cases in Breast Cancer” about breast cancer. In Singapore and abroad, he lectures regularly.
Dr Ang Cher Siang Peter is currently a visiting advisor to the National Cancer Centre and is actively involved in teaching and research. He served with the National University of Singapore as an involved clinical trainer, and was a speaker for the Breast Cancer Foundation, the Singapore Association of Women Physicians, and the Singapore Cancer Society.
Dr Ang Cher Siang Peter, considered an expert on breast cancer, was invited to speak at the first Singapore Medical Oncology Review Course in 2007 and the first Asian Regional Oncology Summit in 2009 as one of the speakers. He was also one of the regional keynote speakers at the 2010 meeting of the Asia Breast Cancer Collaboration Group and the Guangzhou International Symposium on Breast Cancer.
