Education & Experience:
Training earned under Colombo Plan Scholarship in United Kingdom to gain Diploma in Child Health in London and Membership in the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, with the second year engaged in posting to the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London for general Paediatrics and in Cardiology, before returning to work in the Singapore General Hospital. This was followed by being appointed to the Planning Committee for the purchase of the British Military Hospital and its transfer to Alexandra Hospital and eventually being appointed as Head of Surgery as well as Head of Department of Orthopaedics.
After this, Dr Teoh Hoon Cheow left for private practice, but continued to work in various capacities in various institution: Singapore Sports Council for around thirty years from 1972, first three years being Council Member, the rest being Chairman of Advisory Committee of the Sports Medicine Unit and Chairman of the Medical Board, Singapore Medical Council for eighteen years from 1975, Panel under section 84 of the Legal Profession Act from 1987 till presently.
