Education & Experience:
Dr Jeevendra Kanagalingam is an ear, nose and throat surgeon specializing in head and neck surgery with a sub-specialty focus. He studied in London, the United Kingdom, and has more than 10 years of experience in the UK, Australia and more recently in Singapore in the public sector. He is registered on the specialist registers of the Singapore and UK General Medical Council and is also registered in Malaysia for practice.
As a Chevening Scholar at the University of Cambridge, Dr Jeeve studied pre-clinical medicine and completed his medical degree at the University of Oxford. At the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital, the Royal Marsden Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and Charing Cross Hospital, he then went on to specialist training in London. In 2006, for the intercollegiate FRCS tests, he received the Royal Society of Medicine Gold Medal. He pursued a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane following the completion of study. He then returned to Singapore and joined Tan Tock Seng Hospital, chairing the multidisciplinary tumour board, where he headed the Head and Neck Cancer Service from 2009-2012.
In advanced head and neck surgery, including endoscopic and robotic thyroid surgery and transoral robotic and laser microsurgery, Dr Jeevendra Kanagalingam is also well-trained. In Hong Kong and South Korea, he got his robotic training. He is also a specialist in speech issues. In 2011, at the University of Pittsburgh, USA, he won a Health Manpower Development (HMDP) award to pursue advanced voice surgery.
Dr Jeevendra Kanagalingam is a visiting physician at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he supports cancer and voice programs, in addition to his practice at Mount Elizabeth Novena. He is dedicated to the teaching of undergraduates and the preparation of residents. He is an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine of Lee Kong Chian (Joint NTU-Imperial College, London) and sits on the Otolaryngology National Residency Advisory Committee (RAC). He was voted one of Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s best teachers in 2012.
Furthermore, in his profession, Dr Jeeve is widely read, having written three book chapters and 28 peer-reviewed scientific articles. He has been an invited speaker in Australasia and Southeast Asia to numerous international meetings. He is an AO Craniomaxillofacial (CMF) course teacher and runs an annual Singapore thyroid ultrasound course.
In the fraternity of ENT surgeons in the city, Dr Jeeve plays an active role and is secretary of the Chapter of Otolaryngologists at the College of Surgeons, Singapore.
