Dr Lee Cheow Yew Julian is an ear, nose, and throat surgeon. He brings 21 years of medical training and surgical experience to his position at the Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre. His clinical interest is on allergic rhinitis and sinus disease, and he has a strong emphasis on evidence-based treatment strategies for allergies, infections, and trauma.
Dr Lee Cheow Yew Julian received his undergraduate degree from National University of Singapore in 1991. Upon completion of Advanced Specialty Training in ENT he was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 2001.
Dr Lee Cheow Yew Julian was awarded a fellowship in the Health Manpower Development Program, which is a government program. The scholarship given to him as an honour to work with the great world leader in the field of Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Image Driven Surgery, and Balloon Sinuplasty, Professor Frederick Kuhn.
Upon Dr Lee’s return, he developed the practice of allergy and sinus surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). Dr. Lee is well-versed in the treatment and management of ear, nose and throat (ENT) disorders, and has extensive expertise in advanced sinus surgery techniques including image-guided endoscopic sinus surgery, revision endosopic sinus surgery for complex frontal sinus disease, anterior skull base surgery, balloon sinuplasty, inhalant allergy and immunotherapy, and maxillo-facial trauma.
Highly respected as a specialist in nasal and sinus disorders, Dr. Lee has been recognised for his service quality and good performance in the treatment of nose and sinus problems. In 2009, he was assigned to the Ministry of Health Clinical Practice Guidelines Workgroup, which wrote and published the guidelines for The Treatment of Rhinosinusitis and Allergic Rhinitis. In addition to publishing in local and foreign journals, he has also contributed to several various oral care subjects.
Dr Lee Cheow Yew Julian was interested in the department of otolaryngology of Tan Tock Seng Hospital, which ended up in his appointment in the department. During his time at TTSH, he received several awards. These honors include the 2005 EXSA Service Excellence Award and 2006 EXSA Service Excellence Award, and the 2007 EXSA Top Ten Teachers Award for Undergraduate Teaching. He is committed to serving the public through academic appointments as Clinical Lecturer and Examiner for the Final Master of Medicine Examination with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and as Examiner for the Exit Examination in Otolaryngology with the Academy of Medicine Singapore.
