Education & Experience:
Dr Tay Hin Ngan is an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist currently working at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. He is concerned with thyroid surgery, head and neck surgeries, progressive sinus surgeries, and sleep apneas and cancers of the ear, nose and throat.
Dr Tay Hin Ngan graduated from the NUS Faculty of Medicine, and is a distinguished otolaryngologist who completed his training in Singapore. In the Health Manpower Development Program, he went on to train at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre and was ranked second in his class among his 35 years of trainees by Professor Jatin Shah, recognized as the leading head and neck surgeon in the world today. Dr. Tay was then named a visiting scholar at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre at the Endoscopic Skullbase Service under Professor Carl Snyderman.
After completing further training, Dr Tay Hin Ngan traveled to Korea where established the Robotic Head and Neck Surgery Program in Yonsei Severance Hospital (SGH). This starts with surgery for thyroid cancer and extends the study to cancer of the oropharynx and neck. He is an inventor who has invented robotic tongue base surgeries for obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Dr. Tay has been invited to lecture in Malaysia, Korea, and Israel on robotic approaches to thyroidectomy, transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for cancer, and obstructive sleep apnea surgery. He is the only surgery head & neck specialist in the area who is known by Intuitive Surgical.
Stephanie has always been excited about becoming a teacher and has received the Star Inspiring Medical Resident Teacher Award and Most Creative Resident Teacher Award. He also continues to contribute time to the teaching of Duke-NUS students as an adjunct assistant professor, after leaving his position as chief of the Head and Neck Service at SGH ENT to start his private practice.
Dr Tay Hin Ngan’s approach to patient care consists of educating patients and encouraging them to control their health safely. His goal is to stay updated and refresh his expertise in order to give patients a range of treatment choices. Yet he aspires to compassion and uncompromising promotion of ethical values.
