Education & Experience:
Dr Lim Wee Kiak is board certified in ophthalmology with 15 years of experience. Dr. Ten shares his experience and expertise with cataract and short-sightedness patients in his clinics at Mount Elizabeth Novena, Mount Elizabeth and Parkway East Hospitals.
After successfully graduating from National University of Singapore (MBBS, 1992), he attended basic military training and later received his postgraduate qualifications in Ophthalmology (M Med, 1998). By the same year, he was also inducted as an Ophthalmologist and Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in the UK and the Royal College of Surgeons in Scotland. In 2003, he completed a brief one-year fellowship in ophthalmology at the National Eye Institute. Through this fellowship, he received mentorship from Dr Robert B Nussenblatt.
Before going private, Dr Lim Wee Kiak was employed by the National Healthcare Group and was the Head of the Ocular Inflammation and Uveitis Service at the National Healthcare Group’s The Eye Institute. Since he spent several years there he was able to perform advanced small incision cataract operations, wavefront, toric and multifocal intraocular lenses as well as various LASIK procedures such as femto-laser bladeless LASIK, Epi-LASIK and the no contact all laser Epi-LASIK procedures. He continues to work as a Visiting Consultant to the Department of Ophthalmology and an Advisor to the Society of Opticianry Practitioners.
Dr Lim Wee Kiak’s ability to practice medicine reaches beyond his practice and his patients. Besides being a staunch supporter of the Eagle myopia management programme, he is also a member of several organizations, organisations, and societies. Sammy has been recently named as Chairman of the Uveitis and Ocular Inflammation Subspecialty Committee of the College of Ophthalmologists, and as Chairman of the Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Optometry Advisory Committee.
Dr Lim Wee Kiak is a well-published ophthalmologist with more than 20 published articles. He has written many chapters in books. A well-known expert on the subject, Ms Lim has become a frequent speaker at eye surgeon conferences.
