Professional Statement
Dr Somanath earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Texas in Austin, graduating with distinction. After working as a software developer at National Instruments in Austin, Texas, he became interested in neurology and ultimately medicine after interacting with one of the company’s customers.
Dr Somanath finished his residency at the UCLA Semel Institute of Neuroscience and Human Behavior, where he received comprehensive training at UCLA and the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs. During his last year of residency, he served as Chief Resident of the UCLA Outpatient Clinics and subsequently completed the Max Gray Mood Disorders Fellowship at the UCLA Semel Institute.
As one of his primary goals upon joining private practice, Dr. Somanath is ecstatic to be able to provide insurance-based treatment to patients. He is now taking new patients in Los Angeles, California, via KMG Psychiatry.
