Dr Foo Shuo Min Jonathan practices at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore, as a general surgeon.
Dr Foo Shuo Min Jonathan specializes in colorectal surgery that is minimally invasive.
Dr Foo Shuo Min Jonathan is especially interested in laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery and advanced colorectal procedures, including transanal complete mesorectal excision, such as colonic stenting and transanal surgery (TaTME). For low rectal cancers and the use of the indocyanine green technique to improve patient clinical outcomes, he has done groundbreaking work for TaTME.
His other clinical interests are the repair and therapeutic endoscopies of laparoscopic ventral hernia.
In 2012, he was awarded the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Program (HMDP) scholarship, where he spent a year at the Minimally Invasive Colorectal Unit in Portsmouth, UK, a national training center for laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery, with renowned colorectal surgeon Professor Amjad Parvaiz. Dr Foo studied advanced techniques in laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery under his mentorship and worked simultaneously as a proctor at colorectal courses in the UK, Europe and Russia.
Dr Foo was a consulting surgeon in the department of surgery at Alexandra Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital prior to forming his private practice.
His passion in teaching has led him to continue presenting and exchanging experiences in the Asia-Pacific region with surgeons. Dr. Foo was the chairman of the Surgical Skills Lab, where laparoscopic training courses for local and regional participants were coordinated and performed.
Dr Foo Shuo Min Jonathan strongly believes that to achieve an optimum result for his patients, every surgical procedure must be personalized to the person.
