At Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore, Dr Lim Yon Kuei Bernard is a general surgeon specializing in colorectal surgery. He is an accredited console surgeon for the new da Vinci robotic surgical system and subspecializes in minimally invasive colorectal surgery.
From 2013 to 2015, he was a specialty board member for the Chapter of General Surgeons, College of Surgeons, Singapore. Dr. Lim is also a life member of the Asian Endoscopic Laparoscopic Surgeons (ELSA) and has also served on the Colorectal Surgeons Society’s Executive Committee (Singapore).
Dr Lim Yon Kuei Bernard was educated at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) in the Department of Colorectal Surgery, where he was a consulting surgeon. Conventional laparoscopic, single-port and robotic surgery were included in his preparation.
Dr Lim Yon Kuei Bernard obtained a fellowship from the Singhealth Health Manpower Development Programme to train in advanced minimally invasive surgery at Queen Mary Hospital. Since then, he has performed numerous laparoscopic colorectal surgery seminars and courses. He has trained colorectal specialists and trainees both locally at SGH and Changi General Hospital (CGH) and regionally in advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery. At the Department of Surgery at CGH, he is also an influential visiting consultant.
In clinical practice, Dr Lim Yon Kuei Bernard has been very involved in teaching and conducting studies on the new surgical approaches. He was an assistant assistant professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and a clinical lecturer at the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Medicine. He was also a visiting consultant to the Department of Surgical Oncology, National Cancer Centre, apart from his practice at SGH.
