Dr Ng Chee Yung practices at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Parkway East Hospital, Singapore, as a general surgeon.
With a passion for improving the art of minimally invasive colorectal operations, Dr Ng specializes in colorectal surgery.
Dr Ng Chee Yung’s forte involves several specialized procedures such as single port laparoscopy, prolonged lymph node dissection for advanced colorectal cancer, robotic colorectal resection, colonic stenting, transanal endoscopic microsurgery, and transanal complete mesorectal excision in addition to laparoscopic colorectal resections.
The other therapeutic concern of Dr Ng is in the repair of laparoscopic hernia, having also gained international renown with frequent lecture invitations. At seminars and conferences, he has also conducted several live demonstrations of his hernia repair technique locally and globally.
Dr Ng Chee Yung has earned particular recognition for his experience in robotic colorectal surgery and is well sought after as a robotic surgery teacher and educator. He regularly teaches both locally and globally and conducts hands-on proctoring in the technique for other surgeons. At an international surgical meeting, the ISLCRS (International Society of Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeons) 2015 Congress, Dr Ng carried out a live demonstration of his robotic colorectal surgery technique in 2015.
Dr Ng Chee Yung has also done groundbreaking work for large bowel obstruction with colonic stenting and has detailed personal case experiences in Singapore.
Dr Ng Chee Yung worked as Senior Consultant Surgeon at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and was the Director of the Center for Digestive and Liver Diseases, a large multidisciplinary coordinated clinical center that includes gastroenterology, upper gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and colorectal surgery inside SGH.
He also held the position of vice chairman of the Committee on Robotic Minimally Invasive Surgery, a steering group dedicated to robotic surgery growth and advancement.
Dr Ng has always felt that it is both a duty and a privilege to teach medicine. In 2011, he was awarded an adjunct professorial title in recognition of his scholarly activities. He continues to teach passionately to students and surgical trainees.
