Dr Seah Dee Wern Melanie is specialized in conducting techniques of oncoplastic surgery that have ideal oncology outcomes and cosmetic results. This can range from breast conservation processes with immediate breast reconstruction to skin sparing and nipple sparing mastectomies. She is actively interested in screening and administering breast biopsies for breast cancer, such as vacuum-assisted biopsies and surgical biopsies.
Dr Seah Dee Wern Melanie worked as an associate consultant and then as a consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s General Surgery Department (TTSH).
In 1995, Dr Seah embarked on her medical training at the National University of Singapore (NUS), followed by her general surgery residency training at TTSH. This eventually culminated in her fellowship accreditation by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, in general surgery.
In order to further enhance her clinical abilities in breast oncoplastic surgery at the Marient Hospital in Duesseldorf, Germany, she was later awarded the Health Manpower Growth Plan scholarship by the Ministry of Health.
Dr Seah believes in the value of mentoring students who will ultimately take care of the generations to come as doctors. She worked as a senior clinical lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Department of Surgery at NUS and as a clinical instructor with the Chian School of Medicine at Lee Kong.
At several local and international conferences, and as an author of several peer-reviewed, indexed medical journal articles, she has presented and lectured.
