Dr Woon Wei Liang Winston is a general surgeon practicing at Singapore’s Gleneagles Hospital.
Dr Woon Wei Liang Winston is proficient in all forms of general surgery and endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), and his primary focus is laparoscopic/robotic surgery, including hernia, gall bladder, liver, pancreas, and surgery of the bile duct.
In 1998, he completed medical school and did his specialist training in Australia. In the field of laparoscopic upper gastrointestinal, liver and pancreatic surgery, his 2 years of sub-specialty training focused on both benign and malignant conditions.
In his years working at the Prince of Wales Hospital and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, he was interested in kidney and liver transplantation.
Dr Woon Wei Liang Winston returned in 2010 to Singapore and served as a senior consultant surgeon at Tan Tock Seng Hospital until 2018. During that time, in the general surgery department, he founded the hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgical service and spearheaded the training and acceptance of laparoscopic surgery.
Tan Tock Seng Hospital was the first hospital outside of Australia and New Zealand to be accredited as a teaching hospital for the Australian and New Zealand Hepatic, Pancreatic & Biliary Association fellowship program in Dr Woon’s tenure as the chief of the HPB surgery service.
Dr Woon Wei Liang Winston is the new president of Singapore’s Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association.
He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and has appeared in several medical and surgical peer-reviewed journals.
