At Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore, Dr Ang Teck Kee is an interventional cardiologist.
He has more than 15 years of clinical experience and more than 3,000 invasive coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary procedures have been performed, often through the less invasive approach to the radial (wrist) artery.
Dr Ang Teck Kee specializes in procedures such as complex intervention of the left main coronary artery disease, complex intervention of coronary artery disease bifurcation, and chronic complete coronary artery intervention occlusion.
Dr Ang Teck Kee is well versed in using advanced imaging techniques for the intra-coronary artery, such as intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT), which improves treatment options in diseased coronary arteries and optimizes the placement of coronary stents.
For patients with irregular heart rhythms (such as atrial fibrillation) and primary prevention, he has a particular interest in stroke prevention (preventive healthcare).
He graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, with a bachelor’s degree and received his internal medicine postgraduate degree in 2010.
Dr Ang Teck Kee was given a Letter of Commendation by the Chief Navy Medical Service for resourcefulness and effort in casualty management during his 2006-2008 National Service stint where he worked as a military doctor in the Republic of Singapore Navy when he went out of his way to save a civilian life.
From 2011 to 2014, he received advanced specialty training in cardiology at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) and was certified as a cardiology specialist by the Singapore Medical Council and the Ministry of Health in 2014.
In 2016, at Liverpool District Hospital (LDH) in Sydney, he was awarded a Human Manpower Development Program scholarship by the Ministry of Health to subspecialize in the field of interventional cardiology.
During his HMDP rotation at LDH, he actively engaged in research, with the findings of the research presented during the 2017 conference of the CSANZ (Cardiac Society Australia & New Zealand) in Perth, Australia.
He returned to Singapore in 2017 and worked as a senior interventional cardiologist qualified, providing KTPH 24/7 acute heart attack interventional service.
In his practice, Dr Ang is a keen believer in the use of technical advancements in cardiology, such as the use of anatomical snuff box (thumb base) artery access for minimally invasive angioplasty.
He was the chair of KTPH’s anti-thrombotic workgroup.
Dr Ang Teck Kee’s past and present academic appointments include continuing medical education at the cardiology department of KTPH; core faculty member of the senior cardiology residency program of the National Healthcare Group (NHG); core faculty member of the NHG internal medicine residency program; clinical instructor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS; and clinical teacher at the Lee Kong Chian Sch Sch School of Medicine.
Involved in clinical research, he has been a co-investigator in international and local clinical trials such as ODYSSEY, AMGEN, FOURIER, TICA-45, MASTER DAPT, PARADISE MI, PITRI, Sing-Xad, PACS, and PACS II.
Dr Ang Teck Kee has published papers on cardiology issues, including arterial access site control following intrusive coronary procedures, and intense use of multiple blood thinners due to blood clot laden coronary artery in heart attacks. His dissertation has been published in peer-reviewed international journals, and he is frequently invited to major local and international cardiology conferences as a speaker and professor.
He is the recipient of many honors, including the 2015, 2016 and 2018 Service Champion awards.
