Dr Hong Cho Tek Eric is a cardiologist practicing at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He specializes in interventional cardiology, sports cardiology, nuclear cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation and non-invasive cardiac imaging, including CT and PET/SPECT cardiac angiography.
Dr Hong Cho Tek Eric is one of the few cardiologists formally qualified in the Nuclear Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology Dual Clinical Fellowships.
Dr Hong Cho Tek Eric graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1996 with a medical degree and passed the U.S. Medical Licensing Exams (USMLE) the following year. Before returning to Singapore to begin his specialist training in internal medicine, he worked in Ireland. He got his MRCP and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians after completing his basic specialist training in internal medicine at the Singapore General Hospital (Edinburgh).
In 2003, Dr Eric Hong began his advanced cardiology specialist training at the National University Hospital. In 2005, he passed the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) qualification test. Dr Eric Hong Cho Tek was named as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (Cardiology) in 2006, in recognition of his professional and research achievements. He also won the Health Manpower Growth Plan award from the Ministry of Health, Singapore, for cardiology. He received his specialist training at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital/ Harvard Medical School (USA) in Advanced Multimodality Cardiac Imaging, where he studied with Professor Marcelo Di Carli, an eminent nuclear cardiologist who is the world expert on CT/PET imaging.
In 2006, Dr Eric Hong became a diplomat with the CNBC Nuclear Cardiology Certification Board. He was also a clinical fellow in interventional cardiology under the preceptorship of Dr Jeffrey J Popma at Brigham & Women’s Hospital/ Harvard Medical School (USA). Dr Popma is a world-renowned interventional cardiologist who was previously president of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and is the new chairman of the Committee on Cardiac Catheterization and Ad Hoc Simulation Preparation of the American College of Cardiology.
In July 2007, Dr Eric Hong Cho Tek became a qualified member of the Interventional Cardiology Board (ACGME, USA). He returned to Singapore to work in the Department of Cardiology, where he was the Head of Nuclear Cardiology and Imaging at the National University Hospital.

Dr Hong Cho Tek Eric was also a clinical tutor and chairman of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NTLC, Singapore National University Hospital. From November 2009 to October 2010, he was a consultant cardiologist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he helped develop and provide 24-hour acute interventional cardiology services for patients with heart attacks. He was elected a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, a Fellow of the United States Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and a Fellow of the Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology.
