Education & Experience:
Dr Lim Yean Teng is a cardiologist practicing at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital. Angioplasty, balloon valvuloplasty, coronary artery disease, drug-eluting stenting, hypercholesterolemia, and hypertension are among his clinical interests.
Dr Lim Yean Teng graduated in 1983 from the Faculty of Medicine, Singapore National University. He completed cardiology training at the Epworth Hospital in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and the Cardiac Department at the National University Hospital in Singapore after completing his internal medicine training. He then spent 18 months in the Cardiovascular Disease Division, Department of Medicine, Birmingham University of Alabama, USA, and obtained further training in Interventional and Nuclear Cardiology.
A/Professor Dr Lim Yean Teng subsequently received further training at the Prairie Heart Institute in Springfield, Illinois, USA, in Percutaneous Mitral Valvulopasty (In Kaoshiong, Taiwan) and Peripheral Intervention Fellowship. He is frequently invited to speak, chair and moderate major intervention meetings in the Asia-Pacific region, and has served as an international faculty member for major intervention meetings in Europe and the United States. In Singapore and the area, A/Professor Lim is recognized as a key opinion leader in the field.
A/Professor Lim worked in public hospitals for 24 years before entering private practice. He has been a university academic for 17 years, in addition to being a senior consultant cardiologist, and has served as Chairman of the Medical Board and Chief of the Cardiac Department at the National University Hospital and as Senior Management and Co-Director of the National Healthcare Group’s Heart Institute. He was Member of the National Committee on Cardiac Treatment and Chairman of the Ministry of Health’s Specialist Training Committee on Cardiology in Singapore.
On a number of significant national committees, A/Professor Dr Lim Yean Teng continues to serve. The Academy of Medicine, Singapore, the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, the Asia-Pacific College of Cardiology, the ASEAN College of Cardiology and the Asia-Pacific Society of Interventors have been awarded fellowships by local, regional and international societies and schools.
