Education & Experience:
At the Raffles College, Dr Low Lip Ping went to school and was awarded the Old Rafflesians Association medal in 1959. He graduated from the University of Singapore with an MBBS degree (1965) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine and of the College of Cardiology, Singapore, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He was formerly an Associate Professor of Medicine at the National University of Singapore.
Dr Low Lip Ping is a cardiologist consultant at the Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, a visiting consultant to the Singapore General Hospital and the Singapore National Heart Centre, a former cardiac department visiting consultant, and a National University Hospital visiting consultant to the Heart Institute.
Dr Low Lip Ping is the Chairman Emeritus of the Singapore Heart Foundation Board of Directors (SHF). Prior to that, he served for 16 years until 2008 as Chairman of SHF. Dr. Low was a former president of the Singapore Medical Association and the Singapore Cardiac Society, a former president of the Singapore Hypertension Society and a former president of the Asian Pacific Hypertension Society, a former president of the Asia Pacific Heart Network and a former continental delegate of the World Heart Federation’s Executive Board.
Dr Low Lip Ping has worked on a variety of government and public bodies, including the National Committee on Cardiac Care, the Healthy Lifestyle Committee, the Ministry of Cardiac Care (Cardiology) Advisory Committee, the Specialist Training Committee on Cardiology (Specialist Accreditation Board), the Cardiology Expert Panel (Center for Pharmaceutical Administration and Drug Assessment Center, Health Screening Board),
He gave expert medical advice to the Medical Council of Singapore and to the Singapore and Malaysian law courts in many litigation cases. He has chaired the Singapore Hypertension Clinical Practice Guidelines Ministry of Health Workgroup and has been a member of the Singapore Clinical Practice Guidelines on Lipids, Smoking Cessation, National Diabetes Commission Guidelines, Cardiovascular Disease Screening, Hypertension and Cardiovascular Screening ECG Screening Committee, Academy of Medicine Guidelines on CT Coronary An
Dr Low Lip Ping was a member of the Singapore Health Services Board of Directors from 2003 to 2009 and a member of its Audit Committee and Study Committee. He was appointed as a member of its Risk Management Committee and its Clinical Risk Group from October 2009. He was appointed as a member of the SingHealth Foundation Board of Trustees and as Chairman of its Grantmaking Committee from 2 May 2009.
In addition, Dr. Low has served on the Mt Elizabeth Hospital Medical Advisory Board and Clinical Governance Committee, as well as on many international pharmaceutical company advisory boards. He has participated in many local and foreign medical events, including the World Congress of Cardiology, the World Congress of Hypertension, the Asia Pacific Congress of Cardiology, the Asia Pacific Congress of Hypertension, the ASEAN Congress of Cardiology, the annual scientific meetings of American, Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, hypertension societies, He has been the author or co-author of more than 90 research papers and has worked on many scientific journals’ editorial boards.
Dr Low Lip Ping was awarded the Public Service Star (BBM) by the President of Singapore at the 2001 National Day Awards.
