In interventional cardiology, his area of expertise focuses on the treatment of patients with occluded coronary arteries in both emergency and elective settings.
Dr Tan Svenszeat is specialized in the treatment of patients with a heart attack who need urgent ballooning and stenting of the blocked heart arteries.
During his fellowship in adult interventional cardiology at the University of Ottowa Heart Institute, Canada, from 2015-2016, Dr Tan also treated patients with more complex coronary artery disorders and chronic complete occlusions.
Dr Tan Svenszeat was also a member of the transcatheter aortic valve replacement heart team during the fellowship, where he worked with patients with serious aortic stenosis who are not eligible for surgical valve replacement.
Dr Tan Svenszeat was previously the director of the coronary care unit at Changi General Hospital, where he played an active role in training doctors in junior cardiology about the treatment of critically ill patients.
His previous academic appointments include a senior clinical lecturer at the National University Hospital Singapore with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
