Biography
Dr Monika Vij is a leading gynecologist consultant and urogynecologist based in South Wales specializing in prolapse, pelvic pain, general urogynecology, urinary incontinence, and chronic UTIs. Mrs. Vij is the only certified sub-specialist in urogynaecology in Wales and conducts a wide variety of surgical procedures for complicated prolapse and incontinence, including all non-mesh procedures.
Dr Monika Vij graduated from Kanpur University, India in 1996 and graduated with a master’s degree in obstetrics and gynecology. She then moved to the United Kingdom to undergo further postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology. Later, she completed full training in general gynecology and urogynecology in London, Bristol, and Plymouth.
Dr Monika Vij is committed to teaching, frequently sharing her expertise with junior surgeons, and is also a deputy mentor of the Urogynaecology sub-specialty training program in Wales. She takes a multidisciplinary approach to treating her patients and works regularly with specialist pelvic floor physiotherapists and continence nurses.
She is a member of the Welsh Pelvic Health Implementation Association and holds a number of prestigious memberships, including the British Society of Urogynaecologists, the International Continence Society, and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
