Education & Experience:
Dr Cheong Tuck Hong is a Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre Respiratory Specialist and a former Visiting Consultant (Department of Medicine) at Changi General Hospital. At Tan Tock Seng Hospital, he was formerly a Senior Consultant (Department of Respiratory Medicine).
From the National University of Singapore, he earned his MBBS (1982) and Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) (1987). In 1986, he was made a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, UK). He is a fellow of the Singapore Academy of Medicine (1992). At the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Canada, Dr Cheong Tuck Hong also obtained postgraduate training in Respiratory Medicine in 1989.
During his studies, Dr Cheong Tuck Hong won several prizes and distinctions. These include the Beecham Book Prizes for Anatomy and Physiology (1978-1979), the Silver Medal of the Academy of Medicine (1978-1979) for being first in the First Professional Examination for MBBS, the Gibbs Gold Medal and the Ciba-Geigy Award (1981-1982) for being first in general competence for MBBS during the course of research.
Dr Cheong Tuck Hong served as the vice-chairman of the Mount Elizabeth Hospital Medical Advisory Board (2006-2008) and was previously chairman of the Mount Elizabeth Hospital SARS Prevention Committee (2003-2004). He is a member of the Board of Parkway College as well.
Chronic cough, obstructive airway disease (asthma and smoking-related lung dieases), lung cancer, sleep apnoea syndromes (especially snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome), interventional bronchology are of particular concern in the following areas: (Transbronchial lung biopsy and bronchoalveolar lavage, and transbronchialneedle aspiration).
Since 1995, Dr Cheong Tuck Hong has been practicing at Mt. Elizabeth Medical Centre.
