Dr Anthony C Arnold is the Director of the UCLA Optic Neuropathy Center and studies ischemic and inflammatory optic neuropathies. In the field of neuro-ophthalmology, he has produced many textbooks and more than a hundred research articles. From 1994 until 2017, he was the head of the ophthalmology residency program at UCLA, and he is now the Vice Chair for Education in the department. He has also served as the President of the national AUPO Ophthalmology Program Directors Council, the Director of the American Board of Ophthalmology, the Chair of the ACGME Residency Review Committee for Ophthalmology, a member of the ACGME Board of Directors, the Chair of the ACGME Ophthalmology Milestones Development Group, and the President and Chairman of the Board of the North American Neuro Ophthalmology Society.
