Biodata
- Dr Ashok Thorat is a Senior Consultant with over a decade of expertise at the SRCC Children’s Hospital, which is administered by Narayana Health. He received his MBBS from the University of Pune in Maharashtra and his DNB (General surgery) from the National Board in New Delhi. Then, he pursued an FIASGO Fellowship in HPB Surgery at the Athens Medical Center in Greece. He then pursued an IHPBA-approved Clinical Fellowship in HPB and Liver Transplantation at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Linkou, Taiwan, as well as a Master’s in Hepatic Surgery and Liver Transplantation at China Medical University Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan.
- Dr Ashok Thorat is the first Indian physician to pursue a master’s degree in liver surgery in Taiwan and the only Indian physician to have worked for more than five years in Taiwan.
- Dr Ashok Thorat has extensive training in ICU management, with a particular focus on the care of liver transplant recipients. He has acquired extensive laparoscopic training in hepatobiliary surgery, with a particular focus on robotic liver operations. Dr. Thorat is especially skilled in difficult adult and pediatric live-donor liver transplantation and postoperative care, and has conducted substantial clinical research in this area.
- Dr Ashok Thorat has published numerous scientific articles, posters, and presentations in national and international journals and conferences, and he has received numerous honors. Dr. Ashok Thorat has more than sixty publications and more than seventy international posters to his name, and his research is expanding.
