DR BABAR BASHIR CHAUDHRI graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in medicine and has been practicing medicine since 1992. Following that, he received intensive heart and thoracic surgical training at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London and in Scotland. During fellowships at Harefield and Freeman Hospitals in the United Kingdom, as well as MHH in Hannover, Germany, he superspecialized in aortic, mitral, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery, as well as heart and lung transplantation.
He has conducted over 4000 adult cardiac surgical procedures, 800 major thoracic surgeries, and over 2500 surgical staging, mediastinal, and pleural procedures.
He specializes in off-pump/beating heart coronary surgery, aortic root/arch surgery, mitral valve repair, complex valvular and redo cardiac surgery, and complex valvular and redo cardiac surgery.
He has a thorough understanding of thoracic surgical oncology, including surgical staging and resections.
He is an expert in heart and lung transplantation (50 heart implants, 48 lung implants), mechanical circulatory assist devices, and heart failure surgery. He is particularly interested in minimally invasive and difficult cardiac surgery, particularly re-operative valvular surgery and atrial fibrillation surgery.
