Dr Beth Karlan, a physician and scientist with a 30-year career, is a globally renowned authority on ovarian cancer and other heritable malignancies. She is the Vice Chair of Women’s Health Research and a professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, as well as the Director of the Cancer Population Genetics program at the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Dr Beth Karlan received her BA in biochemistry from Harvard University in 1978 and her MD in Medicine from the same institution in 1982. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency in 1986 and was a research fellow at Yale University in 1987. In 1989, she joined the UCLA faculty as a clinical fellow; in 2001, she was promoted to professor; and in 2019, she was named Vice Chair.
