Dr Chan Wan Xian clinical experience covers heart failure and the treatment of mechanical heart patients, valvular heart disease, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology procedures, and cardiac imaging.
At the Toronto University Health Network in Canada, she pursued subspecialisation training in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation.
In 2009, at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS), she completed her advanced specialist training in cardiology.
She also received cardiomyopathy and cardiac imaging instruction (including nuclear cardiology imaging and echocardiography). Subsequently, at the Mayo Clinic in the USA and the Ottawa Heart Institute in Canada, Dr Chan earned a team scholarship and sought further training in women’s heart health services.
Dr Chan Wan Xian was a former senior advisor and co-director of NUHCS’ women’s heart health service.
Dr Chan Wan Xian is currently an assistant adjunct professor in the Department of Medicine at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
Dr Chan led the transitional and home care programs for complex heart failure patients during her time at NUHCS. In 2016, at the National University Hospital in Singapore, she won the Outstanding Collaborating Physician Award. In the Quality Management project (CareHub pilot project in cardiac patients), the program also received the Merit award in 2016.
