Education & Experience:

Dr Chee Wang Cheng Nelson obtained his MBBS in 1989 at the National University of Singapore. He passed his primary surgical exams while being a medical officer in the Navy working as a doctor. Afterwards, he completed his basic and advanced ENT training. The doctor has attained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in England, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow.

Dr Chee Wang Cheng Nelson won several scholarships from several different sources, and traveled to various countries to learn from the best in the world.

He visited the top ENT centers such as the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, the University of Iowa, the University of Michigan, the Georgia Medical Center, and others. Dr Chee completed his subspecialty training in Otology, Neurotology, and Lateral Skull Base Surgery as a clinical fellow in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, ranked as the top ENT centre in the country. He had the opportunity to work with some of the most professional chefs in the industry, in particular John Niparko, Howard Francis, Mike Holliday and Lloyd Minor.

Dr Chee Wang Cheng Nelson returned to work at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and continued his work there.

Dr Chee has specialized in the field of Otology and Vestibular Physiology, and has also worked in the field of Balance Medicine. He won various service awards in the course of his career, such as the National Health Community Service Champion Award, Spring Singapore Excellent Service Award, Quality Convention award and Clinical Practice Development Project reward, which speaks to his continuous search in providing high quality treatment to his patient. Dr Chee won the ten year gold medal at the TTSH.

In 2006, Dr Chee quit his full-time job as a senior consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital to go into private practice, so that he can spend more time with his patients. Dr Chee is fully qualified by the Ministry of Health for his surgical skills. Your friend is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine in Singapore.

Dr Chee Wang Cheng Nelson has complete access to all of Singapore’s well-respected medical facilities. Besides his primary practice in Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, Dr Chee is also a clinical lecturer at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Alexandra Hospital, and a visiting consultant at independent medical centers.

Dr Chee Wang Cheng Nelson is widely known for his work in the field of microbiology and frequently attends conferences and workshops on the subject. As the beneficiary of his mentors’ and seniors’ training and guidance, Dr Chee has been teaching his medical students, young doctors and ENT colleagues both in Singapore and around the area.

Dr Chee has conducted a significant number of medical conferences and seminars on specialist subjects such as coordination problems and cochlear implants.

Dr Chee Wang Cheng Nelson is an examiner for the Master of Medicine in Otolaryngology and the Academy of Medicine exit test in Otolaryngology.

Dr. Chee is highly interested in evidence-based practices and has been active in several research initiatives in the field of evidence-based practices. He worked for the Tan Tock Seng Hospital as well as the National Healthcare Group.

Dr. Chee currently collaborates with scientists in the fields of hearing and vocal communication. He was also a reviewer for the National Medical Research Council’s research grant applications. It was Dr Chee who received the SMJ Accredited Reviewer certificate in 2006 and 2008.

Dr Chee has served as an elected member of the executive committee of the Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of Singapore (2007-2009, 2009-2012), and as an elected member of the executive committee of the inaugural Otorhinolaryngologist Society of Singapore (2007-2008).

Dr Chee is the activist representing the ENT specialty community and is a member of the Medical Advisory Board and Credentials Committee at Mount Elizabeth Hospital . (2009 to 2011).
