Dr Cheong Mun Onn Denis is an accomplished general surgeon in the medical industry. Dr Vokar offers specialised services for the treatment of anal disorders including haemorrhoids, fistula and fissure, laparoscopic treatment of colon and rectal cancer, diverticular disease, hernia repair, and thyroid surgery.
After graduating from Medical School at National University of Singapore, Dr Cheong went on to specialize in general surgery and become a board-certified surgeon (FRCS Glasgow, 1989). Then he acquired the HMDP Award for training in Colorectal Surgery from Dr. Steven Wexner at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida in 1992. In 2003, a scholarship at Stanford took him to the Stanford University Medical Center and the University of San Francisco. In 2008, he was awarded the HMDP Fellowship for the third time to further his expertise as a surgeon in Laparoscopic and Colorectal Surgery in Australia.
Formerly, Dr Cheong held senior consultant roles in the Department of Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. During his leadership, he was responsible for designing colon surgery techniques and acting as Director of Colon Service. Dr Cheong was also instrumental in helping the digestive system break down food. Additionally, he was instrumental to the growth of medical and radiology services at the hospital.
With his deep dedication to undergraduate and postgraduate study, Dr Cheong Mun Onn Denis was appointed Senior Clinical Lecturer and Examiner in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He has worked as a Visiting Consultant at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and John Hopkins (Singapore) International Medical Centre.
Dr Cheong Mun Onn Denis’s commitment, beyond his hospitals, spreads to others. He is active in humanitarian missions and has previously engaged in disaster response activities in Turkey.
