Dr Chew Soo Ping is a general surgeon practicing at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He specializes in treating the diseases of the gall bladder, bile duct, liver and pancreas. That include cancer of the stomach, cancer of the liver, cancer of the pancreas, cancer of the bile duct, cancer of the gall bladder, cancer of the colon and tumours of the small bowel.
For conditions such as gallstones, hernia in the abdominal wall and inguinal (groin) hernia, appendix removal, adrenal gland removal and spleen removal, Dr Chew performs minimally invasive or keyhole surgery.
Dr Chew Soo Ping graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery (NUS). He continued to study in general surgery and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. At the Queensland Liver Transplant Service of the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia, he was awarded a Singapore Government scholarship to specialize in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, and liver transplantation.
In Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), Dr Chew Soo Ping founded the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Service, where he was appointed as the chief of the subspecialty service. He was also Deputy Head of the Surgery Department, Director of the Endoscopy Committee and of the Endoscopy Centre, and a founding member of the Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Centre.
