Biodata
- Dr Chia Chung King is a gastrointestinal specialist with a specific interest in liver disease and extensive clinical experience. He was also involved in a number of collaborations involving clinical research on stomach cancer.
- Dr Chia Chung King graduated from the National University of Singapore with an MBBS in 1997. In 2002, he earned a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Internal Medicine and was accepted to the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP). He was awarded the (HMDP) scholarship by the Ministry of Health in 2006 and completed speciality training at Kings’ College Hospital’s Liver Unit in London. He was elected a Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Medicine in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCP(Edin)). He earned a master’s degree in health profession education from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. He was appointed Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Nanyang Technological University’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
- He had mentored and trained a large number of young doctors and medical students. He also spent many years teaching advanced trainees therapeutic and diagnostic gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He formerly served in a variety of educational and managerial capacities, including Associate Dean, Clinical Education Lead, Chairman of the Internal Medicine Training Program, and Program Director of Residency Programs. He was also a member of the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Medical Board. He has received numerous teaching and service accolades, the most prestigious of which was the Courage Star bestowed by President Nathan of Singapore for placing himself in danger while caring to SARS patients on the front line.
