Education & Experience:
At Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore, Dr Stanley Chia is an interventional cardiologist and physician.
Dr Chia Stanley has expertise in the treatment of complicated coronary heart diseases and a number of other disorders and cardiovascular diseases. He also handles complex interventional coronary procedures such as left main disorder, chronic complete occlusions, and calcified lesions.
In a doctoral program at the University of Edinburgh from 2000 to 2002, he was awarded the British Heart Foundation Scholarship Scheme and the Junior Research Fellowship to conduct cardiovascular medicine research. At the National Heart Centre in Singapore, he completed his cardiology advanced specialty training and has been accredited as a cardiology specialist since 2006.
Dr Chia Stanley was a Harvard Medical School research fellow and a Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA, interventional cardiology fellow.
Dr Chia Stanley was a senior consultant cardiologist and interventional cardiologist at the National Heart Centre in Singapore prior to leaving for private practice. At the same time, he was a clinical senior lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Singapore and director of the cardiology residency program.
Dr Chia Stanley made valuable contributions to education and training in cardiology. He is currently the deputy chairman of the Research Ethics Committee of the SingHealth Institution, and previously served as a member of the Scientific Review Panel of the National Medical Research Council.
In order to provide insight into the development of coronary artery disease, he introduced and published his research on advanced intravascular imaging techniques including optical coherence tomography. His clinical expertise in interventional cardiology was further developed and he specialized in structural heart and coronary interventional procedures.
Dr Chia Stanley has written widely in international peer-reviewed journals about cardiovascular science. In organising and presenting at various international and local cardiology conferences, he continues to play a major role.
