Education & Experience:
Dr Chia Su Ynn graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery in 1999. In 2004, Dr Chia was awarded a research fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA, while pursuing her sub-specialty training in Endocrinology. She performed research on blood markers for the diagnosis and management of thyroid cancer during that time. She completed the remainder of her fellowship in Endocrinology in 2007 following her return to Singapore, and was admitted to the Academy of Medicine as a Fellow.
Dr Chia Su Ynn is excited about teaching. She was a Clinical Teacher at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore and is heavily involved with undergraduate and postgraduate education.
Dr Chia has a broad range of interests, especially in diabetes and thyroid disease. To date, she is the only endocrinologist outside the United States to be given the Endocrine Neck Ultrasound Specialist Qualification (ECNU) by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE). Only endocrinologists who have reached a high standard for conducting thyroid and neck ultrasounds and ultrasound-guided thyroid nodule biopsies are given this certification. In the treatment of diabetes, Dr Chia also has a great interest. She strongly believes in inspiring both doctors and patients to battle this growing problem.
Dr Chia Su Ynn has given the medical community several educational talks on diabetes, both globally and locally. Osteoporosis, calcium disorders, obesity, polycystic ovarian disease, lipid disorders, pituitary and adrenal disorders and other hormonal tests are also handled by Dr Chia. She is the current honorary secretary of Singapore’s Endocrine & Metabolic Society and the Academy of Medicine Chapter of Endocrinologists. She is an active member of The Endocrine Society (USA) and the Clinical Endocrinologists’ Association of America (AACE).
