Dr Christina is a professor of medicine at UCLA and the head of the rheumatology division. Dr. Charles-Schoeman obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Yale University with honors. She obtained her medical degree, training in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, and Master of Science in Clinical Research via the Specialty Training and Advanced Research (STAR) Program at UCLA.
Dr Charles specializes in the treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory myositis, and she often treats patients with aggressive systemic diseases, such as severe interstitial lung disease. Her research interests include the investigation of accelerated vascular disease and inflammatory lipoproteins as potential targets for RA and myositis therapy. She also directs many clinical studies at UCLA involving innovative treatments for RA and myositis.
