Dr Dhanashree Ratra received her MS Ophthalmology from Nagpur University in 1993 and her DNB Ophthalmology from the National Board of Examinations in New Delhi in 1994.
She was a Vitreoretinal Fellow at the Medical Research Foundation and later entered as a Vitreoretinal Consultant in 1996. She received the best lady fellow award for the year. In 1999, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
Dr Dhanashree Ratra has peer-reviewed articles in international and national journals and chapters in various books. In 1996, she was appointed to establish and stabilize the vitreoretinal department at the Shri Ganapati Netralaya in Jalna. In 2003 she was again chosen to create the Hospital and the Department at The Rotary Narayana Sankara Nethralaya in Kolkata, which she managed until July 2005. She also served as a specialist ophthalmologist at the Apollo Hospital in Colombo.
Areas of particular interest: prematurity retinopathy, endophthalmitis, newer therapies for choroid neovascular membrane, diabetic retinopathy.
