Dr E Ravindra Mohan graduated from the reputed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi with a bachelor’s degree in medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at AIIMS, New Delhi’s Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences.

He assumed leadership positions during his training, including Vice-President and President of the Student’s Union, Joint Secretary, and later Secretary of the Ophthalmic Research Association. He spent three years as a Senior Resident in the division of Oculoplastic, Orbital Surgery, and Pediatric Ophthalmology after completing his residency. In May 1998, he passed the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’s Fellowship examinations in Ophthalmology in Edinburgh.

In October 1998, he began working at Sankara Nethralaya as a consultant, and in April 2005, he was promoted to Head of Department and Director of the Department of Oculoplastic, Orbital Surgery, and Trauma. He was named Visiting Professor of Ophthalmology at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Deemed University, Chennai, in August 2005.

In May 2009, Dr E Ravindra Mohan left Sankara Nethralaya and founded Trinethra Eye Clinic on Chennai, which specializes in high-quality oculoplastic therapy. He also works as a Visiting Consultant and Oculoplastic Surgeon at other hospitals around the country.

Dr E Ravindra Mohan has attended over 100 professional meetings, including the International Congress of Ophthalmology, Meeting of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, International Congress of Ocular Oncology, and Singapore National Eye Centre Meeting, as Chairperson and Moderator.

He has given over 100 invited talks, including named orations, and has over 70 paper presentations, as well as a dozen poster and video presentations.

He’s published in major journals including Survey of Ophthalmology, Eye, Orbit, Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and Indian Journal of Ophthalmology, among others. In 1994, he was awarded the coveted Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) International Young Scientists Travel Grant.

Dr. Ravindra Mohan is a reviewer for the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology-Journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Middle East Africa Journal Of Ophthalmology, and Ocular Immunology And Inflammation, as well as an abstract reviewer and an invited paper discussant for the All India Ophthalmological Society’s Annual Conference.

For the years 2008 and 2009, Dr E Ravindra Mohan served as an International Judge for the Singapore National Healthcare Group Eye Institute-Pfizer Research Prizes Awards. He has been intimately involved with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’s operations in India. In various positions, he has coordinated various academic programs at the local, national, and international levels. For several years, he led the Fellowship program in Oculoplasty at Sankara Nethralaya, where he taught, trained, and guided students at all levels of training in ophthalmology and eye care.

Minimally invasive Lacrimal and Orbital Surgery, Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery, particularly Ptosis Surgery, Orbital Tumors, Cosmetic Rehabilitation of the Ophthalmic Socket, management of thyroid eye disease, and management of Blepharospasm and related conditions are among his areas of continued interest.
