Dr Eu Kong Weng is currently a general surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. Dr Eu specializes in the treatment of colorectal disorders with the use of laparoscopic procedures that are minimally invasive and aided by robotics.
Dr Eu Kong Weng with him more than 25 years of experience in the treatment of colorectal diseases, including eight years as head of the Department of Colorectal Surgery of the Singapore General Hospital from 2003 to 2010. He was also the director of the Laparoscopic Surgery Project Supported by SGH Tripartite Robotics, an effort that pioneers cutting-edge surgical technologies. Dr Eu is one of Singapore’s most accomplished doctors in the area of minimally invasive colorectal surgery, having completed over 600 laparoscopic colon and rectal operations and over 50 robotic colorectal resections.
Dr Eu Kong Weng graduated in 1986 from the National University of Singapore with a medical degree and completed his fellowship in surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He subsequently studied at the renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, USA, as an advanced trainee and clinical fellow.
He is currently a visiting consultant at the Department of Colorectal Surgery of the Singapore General Hospital and acts as an advisor to various professional bodies. A substantial part of Dr Eu’s curriculum is also spent teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is currently an assistant professor of surgery at the Graduate Medical School of Duke-NUS.
He was a visiting professor at the renowned Medical Centre of the University of Hong Kong. He was the president of the Colorectal Surgeons Society of ASEAN in 2007 and the president of the Colorectal Surgeons Society of Singapore in 2004.
