Dr Gan Eng Cern is an ENT specialist educated at Mount Elizabeth Novena School of Medicine.
He is well-versed in the treatment of nasal, sinus, and sleep apnea related disorders, and he also has a passion for treating snoring and sleep apnea (OSA).
He received advanced training in the area of Rhinology & Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery at the St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver Canada.
Dr Gan Eng Cern is a specialist in nasal and sinus structures, and spent his career at Changi General Hospital.
Dr Gan Eng Cern is a board-certified orthodontist and senior clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at National University of Singapore.
He continues as the chief surgeon at a specialized surgical skills training center (an annual cadaveric dissection course organised by the ENT Department at Changi General Hospital to train ENT surgeons around the world).
He is a former treasurer of the Singapore Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (SOHNSS).
Dr Gan practises evidence-based medicine and has been published in high-impact ENT journals. His work in patient positioning during sinus surgery offered a solution to the safety problems that had plagued the area.
He has contributed to textbook chapters including his dissertation on fungal rhinosinusitis. Scott-Otorhinolaryngology, Brown’s Head and Neck Surgery is used all over the world (a definitive reference British textbook for ENT and head and neck surgeons).
During his career, Dr Gan earned many distinctions including an award for becoming a superior teacher and researcher. This includes the Best Educator Award, the “Wow” Patient Compliment Award, and the Caring Award by Eastern Health Alliance.
Dr Gan Eng Cern is the winner of the SingHealth Award for Best Resident Doctor in 2007.
