- Dr Harold Choi Kah Yen graduated from the National University of Singapore with a master’s degree in medicine (ophthalmology) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He was a clinical lecturer at the National University of Singapore.
- Dr Harold Choi Kah Yen is board-certified in ophthalmology and specializes in cataract surgery, pterygium surgery, LASIK and other corrective eye surgery, corneal illnesses, inflammatory eye problems, glaucoma, diabetic retinal disease, and age-related macular degeneration. He is board certified in LASIK, toric and multifocal intraocular lens implant surgery, laser therapy for diabetes, retinal vascular disorders, and glaucoma, as well as intravitreal therapies for age-related macular degeneration. He has been awarded funds for studies on angle closure glaucoma screening and genetic study of extraocular muscle tissue in patients with eye movement problems and droopy eyelids. His publications include a variety of subjects, including allergic keratoconjunctivitis, diabetic macular degeneration, microscopic discoveries in droopy eyelids, cataract assessment and grading, and angle closure glaucoma. He has presented at international conferences on a variety of issues, including squints in children, pediatric eye tumors, myopia progression prevention, and surgical treatment of astigmatism.
- Dr Harold Choi Kah Yen is involved in non-profit voluntary health services; he organized public health screenings in conjunction with World Glaucoma and World Diabetes Days. He has been to Bangladesh to treat patients who would not have received medical care otherwise. He is a major proponent of preventative medicine and has screened hundreds of people’ eyes on a voluntary basis. He believes that effective eye care should begin in childhood and has spoken to primary school pupils and medical school students.
