- Dr Inez Wong is the Director of the Eagle Eye Centre’s Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Service. Her special interests include the management and surgery of strabismus (in adults and children) and paediatric ophthalmology, with a focus on a variety of eye problems in children, including refractive errors, myopia, amblyopia, external and anterior segment diseases, cataract, glaucoma, and retinopathy of prematurity. Additionally, she addresses all general ophthalmological disorders in adults and is skilled in doing adult cataract surgery with the most advanced toric, multifocal, and multifocal toric intraocular lenses.
- Dr Inez Wong earned her medical degree from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom and did her residency in ophthalmology in Singapore. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of London, and the Academy of Medicine Singapore. She completed a speciality fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
- Dr Inez Wong previously worked at National University Hospital (NUH) as the Head of the Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Service and as a Visiting Consultant at Jurong Health Services (JHS) and the Health Promotion Board (HPB).
- She was interested in medical education, having served as Assistant Professor and Director of Undergraduate Medical Education in Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore (NUS) for several years. Apart from teaching medical students, she has educated numerous residents as a member of the NUH Ophthalmic Residency Core Faculty and served as a regular examiner for both undergraduate and postgraduate ophthalmology examinations. Apart from multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, Dr Wong has presented her research and taught at numerous regional and international seminars on various topics of paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. She is currently employed as an adjunct senior research scientist at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) and as a Visiting Consultant at the National University Hospital (NUH).
