Professional Statement

Dr McCracken is a child and adult psychiatrist generally regarded as a national pioneer in the creation and testing of medicinal therapies for neurodevelopmental diseases such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Tourette Syndrome, and cognitive deficiencies in children and adults. He is the Joseph Campbell Professor of Child Psychiatry at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and the director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry under the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. Currently, he serves as the director of the NIMH multi-site treatment research network, “Novel Experimental Medicine Studies: Fast-Fail Trials in Autism Spectrum Illnesses,” which attempts to uncover new therapies for the basic impairments of ASD and associated disorders. In the CAN Clinic, Dr. McCracken offers diagnostic assessments, psychiatric therapy, and oversees Multi-Disciplinary Diagnostic Team case reviews.
