Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the UCLA Division of Rheumatology is Dr John, M.D., Ph.D. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Harvard University, a doctorate from Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, and an M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine. He finished training in rheumatology at Harvard and was a pediatric rheumatologist at Massachusetts General Hospital for twenty years.
Former president of the Los Angeles Pediatric Society, he assists with the organization’s summer program for high school students interested in pediatrics as a profession. His research focuses on non-inflammatory vasculopathies, including Kohlmeier-Degos disease, and he has led efforts at UCLA to establish interdisciplinary treatment for patients with the PANS and PANDAS syndromes, which lead to OCD, tic, and behavioral issues in young children.
