Management of Glaucoma, Lasers and Surgery, Cataract Surgery, LASIK, Treatment of Presbyopia, and Refractive Surgery - Dr Kelvin Lee Yoon Chiang is the Director of Glaucoma Services at Singapore’s Eagle Eye Centre (EEC). He is an ophthalmologist and surgeon specialized in Cataract and Comprehensive Ophthalmology, with a subspecialty in Glaucoma care and Cataract and Glaucoma procedures. Additionally, Dr Lee performs implanted contact lenses (ICL) and LASIK procedures to correct refractive problems including presbyopia. Dr Kelvin Lee Yoon Chiang earned a bachelor’s degree in 2000 from the National University of Singapore. Dr Lee was awarded the Master of Medicine (MMED) in Ophthalmology and Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (MRCSEd) in 2004 and the Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (FAMS) and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (FRCSEd) in 2008. (FRCSEd). Dr Lee now serves on the Executive Committee of the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology and as Honorary Treasurer and Council Member of the College of Ophthalmologists of the Singapore Academy of Medicine.
- Previously, he served as Chairman of SNEC’s JCI committee, Member of SNEC’s Quality Assurance Committee, Clinical Physician Faculty Member for Ophthalmology in the SingHealth Residency Program, and Clinical Tutor for the National University of Singapore and Duke-NUS.
- Dr Kelvin Lee Yoon Chiang has underwent speciality training in glaucoma, completing an overseas (HMDP) glaucoma fellowship at the University of Tokyo in 2007 with a focus on Normal Tension Glaucoma treatment. This experience was followed up by a local glaucoma fellowship at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). Dr Lee treats a large number of cataract patients with the most advanced intraocular lens implants (toric, multi-focal and multi-focal toric intraocular lenses). Dr Lee also performs implanted contact lenses (ICL), femtosecond laser assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), and corneal cross-linking to treat patients with refractive problems such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia.
- Dr Kelvin Lee Yoon Chiang has managed numerous patients with glaucoma as a subspecialist in glaucoma. Dr Lee performs glaucoma laser procedures (laser peripheral iridotomy, argon laser iridoplasty, selective laser trabeculoplasty [SLT], and transcleral cyclophotocoagulation [TCP]), as well as glaucoma surgeries (trabeculectomy, combined cataract and glaucoma surgery, and glaucoma tube implant surgery).
- Dr Lee is a devout Christian despite his hectic professional life. He believes in a balanced lifestyle and has a variety of hobbies and interests, including sports and music, as well as travel and photography. Apart from his interests, he devotes time to teaching and serving as an examiner for Singapore Polytechnic and University of Manchester students pursuing an Optometry Diploma. He also organizes public lectures and continuing medical education (CME) sessions on eye problems, as he feels that public education and knowledge of eye diseases such as glaucoma are critical for preventing blindness.
