- Dr Koong Heng Nung is a trained and qualified general surgeon who specializes in thoracic surgery. After earning a master’s degree in general surgery in 1993, he went on to specialize in thoracic surgery from 1998 to 2000 at New York’s renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
- Dr Koong continued to practice emergency general surgery at Singapore General Hospital, including trauma, alongside his considerable practice in thoracic surgical oncology at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) from 2000 to 2014. Throughout his career as Head of Surgical Oncology at NCCS from 2008 to 2014, he was regularly recognized for outstanding service, stellar educator, and service enhancement ideas. Dr Koong is well-known for advancing medical practices at the departmental and managerial levels and for initiating Singapore’s smoke-free pub law.
